Chanel Lands in China

Yep it is true...

The collection itself is absolute stunning. Gabrielle Chanel would be proud to see her designs in China. I think this collection showed why the Chanel is such a popular brand. The whole collection was heavily influence by China culture with is shown beautify thought each designs.

The only design I am not so found of is the last picture as the fury coat looks like a gorilla and I personal think gorillas are ugly.

Summer does not look so bright

Basso and Brooke has decided to duller the colour pallet for this year’s summer by edging up their weird prints. The prints are a mixture of 80ties patterns, plain colour blocks, realism and digital prints. The models look like they have been styled like mermaids in wet hair, glimmering skin and dark lip yet their dresses seem magical intact. Other designers have also darkened their colours such as Julien Macdonald, Dolce & Gabbana and Jil Sander est

We all need to grow up at some point

When growing older you have to give up some of your possessions in order to mature. For example you have to give all your cute teddies and mainly if you are a boy, action figure dinosaurs away. Since I was a tom boy when I was little I had to give all my teddies and dinosaurs to my young siblings :( . The sad thing is that according to Giles Spring 2010 collection it is anything from immature as he shows his models walking up and down the catwalk holding triceratops teddy like bags. When ever I imagine or picture a sophisticated, posh lady who can afford the top designer piece holding these bags I can not help but crack-up.

P.S. Sorry I did not have time to post last week. I had to revise for my mocks as I did not know a single thing for them.

Stabbing to the limit

We all know to look beautiful and fashionable you have to suffer but is this pushing it? This Alexander McQueen dress is pushing or in this case the sharp studs are stabbing the bounders of this season rock chick look. This edgy (edgy meaning literally) fashion shot is taking for iD latest edition of their fab magazine. The sad thing is you want see any copies of this. As giant, sharp, studs sticking out from a dress will never be solved in high street stores. But stubs are coming more in fashion so you might see more garment inspired from this unique dress. Even if you hate the whole punky look you can not admit you are not inspired in the slices. I am, but you can probably tell from my whole blog I love this whole kind of look.

Fed-up with cocktail wear?

It seems like I am not the only one who is fed-up with typical cocktail wear! Balenciaga spring 2010 collection has decided that the fashion world has also, had enough of formal wear too. Instead of the usual, Nicolas Ghesquière has designed his catwalk clothes with an urban, street twist. The highlight of the collection was the strange jackets, made from various different natural and recycled materials.

We are not the only ones cutting back...

In the midst of the credit crunch it seems like all the rich and famous are still speeding as they please, all the rest are hopelessly look for money to suddenly re-appear. However, Viktor and Rolf have decided to cut back too. So, what better way for a designer to cut back on their clothes line by literally soaring through random lumps of fabric on their couture dresses, or in some cases allowing a mouse to nibble through it? Only would Viktor and Rolf have the guts to actually cut their dress in half to appear as if the dress is floating. Some of the cut works on the skirts are unsymmetrical making the models look as if they are levitating. The whole collection has a very fairy like and magical feel.

Chanel Classify Clogs Classy!

I was so surprise when searching the web to come across clogs on the runway especially since the designer who though of this is no other than the traditional, typical designer Chanel. Channel has always kept to the more sophisticated, classy, safe look. So I was please to see that Channel has final took a risk in the clothes line. I hope it pays off.

Cheryl is not the only one who's influencing fashion on X Factor

I was feed up reading all about how pretty and stylish Cheryl is. So I decided to write about another person on X Factor who knows how to strut their stuff, well really his hair. Anyway I am written about the last person you would expect to be fashionable, Jamie Archer aka Jamie Afro.

Louis Vuitton must been a fan of Jamie Archer as he has take up on Jamie’s 80’s style with the big crazy hair and the flimsy scarf hanging from the back.

Teen Vogue: Fashion shots?

As much as I love Teen Vogue I can’t help noticing how they seem to always have ugly pictures of teen celebrities. Teen Vogue makes the impossible, possible by making the most gorgeous and stylish faces look awful. If they style these teens deliberately to make them appear repulsive showing these celebs are not attractive, there is only one word to describe Teen Vogue as cruel. However if these pictures are unintentional, it is very worrying as Teen Vogue obviously need to re-think what went wrong or who’s the blame: stylish, photographer, hair and makeup est.

Why it doesn’t work: Talyor Momsen usually has such nice, thin, shinny hair but in the Teen Vogue photo her hair seems puffy almost like a shag dog.

Why it doesn’t work: Selena Gomez pose looks uncomfortable and her punky, retro style is not translated on the Teen Vogue fashion spread. Additionally the puffs sleeves make her body look out of proportion.

Why it doesn’t work: Esmee Denter rich skin tone and great figure is not shown in Teen Vogue photo as she wearing baggy clothes. Her outfit does not work as baggy with baggy gives a boy like shape. Furthermore, the combination of her too big turn ups and the awkward length of the trouser don’t compliment the sandals well.

Maybe that why Teen Vogue always cut models heads off in photo as they are not capable of taking a decent picture with them!

Another shoe!

If you have been looking at home decorations magazines you would have know that brocade wallpaper is highly in fashion and is vital when decorating your house. Acne has obviously been doing its research as they taken up on the lasted home decoration trend. Acne has designed a fabulous brocade shoe that is a cross between a clog and Alexander McQueen shoes on the post below. Ironically these shoes are probably just as uncomfortable to wear as a clog. This brocade shoe will give you the hint of pink to lighten up your dull winter wardrobes. The brocade pattern gives a vintage feel to the shoe. Brocade is a classy pattern therefore, you have to dress it with a sophisticated outfit or it would look terrible.

The height to perfection- Skyhigh 12 Inch boots hit the catwalk

Last night, Alexander McQueen showcases his new collection in Paris. The models came out, in mini dresses, reptile-patterned, digitally printed dresses, with their long legs sunk in cartoon like boots that looked like it been bored from the film Monster Inc. However, these weird, odd, unusual boots looked fantastic with his collection as each one had been designed to match a specific outfit. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine seeing copies in high-street stores any time soon!

25 Years of London Fashion Week, is going to be unbelievably… average!

I was lucky enough to get tickets to see William Tempest at LFW 2010. As it was my first ever catwalk show I had incredibly high expectations, especially since there has been so much publicity about 25 Years of London Fashion Week. The show was meant to start at 8:30 pm however, it began fashionably late of course, making me wait till 9:20. Yet, the show only lasted 15 minutes! The catwalk was just as boring as the waiting line. It was plain white with no decorations, what so ever. The catwalk was extremely short that the models only had to take 5 steps to reach the end. The clothes had quirky integrate details but nothing that the catwalk has not see before, leaving the show very average.

Highlights:

Why this works-
1. The large dominate bag is balanced by the light, fitted swimming costume.
2. The dress almost looks as if it’s inside out however, its still comes across as a formal, posh dress. This is because the lower half of the dress is less detailed leaving a more elegant feel. The lace still carries on though the whole dress creating a complete piece.

Front row:
Caryn Franklin is a British fashion expert! From fashion editor and co-editor of i-D magazine in the early '80s, she is now most famous for being a presenter on The Clothes Show on UKTV Style and BBC one. She also been the presents of GFW. So it was extremely exciting to see that she was watching the same show as me.

Tribal wars go Goth

Rodart show was inspired by Death Valley that some how sparkled their imagination on catwalk. The idea that someone could be scary and still beautiful, sister act (Rodart) proven is not imposable showing their true creativity in design. The models all look incredible with their arms painted with make-up to appear like tribal prints, goth lips and hair wrapped in wool. The spider web dresses particularly showed the sisters more edger side for design, what is particular in tune with the moment. Some of the black outfits reminded me of Catwomen but with a more punky twist but that my own personal opinion.
