Art Project - Final Skirt

For my art A Level project I decided to make a skirt inspired by movement and the natural flow of paint. This idea originated from watching this video on YouTube. I thought the patterns the paint created would work well on clothes.

I asked my friend Rachel Clifford to model the skirt for me. Hope you like it?

Corrie Nielsen Autumn/Winter 2012 LFW

I was lucky enough to go to Corrie Nielsen (winner of Fashion Fringe in 2010) Autumn/Winter LFW show at Somerset House. The turnout was amazing I spotted Louise Redknapp and famous blogger Susie Bubble from http://stylebubble.typepad.com/!The collection was a take on last season netted see though trend. Nielsen however added a winter element to it by laying Scottish material underneath the netting.

Lanvin Spring/Summer Collection last year:

Corrie Nielsen this year:

This was another outfit from Nielson collection which I wanted to show you as it has a Scottish element to it, but still remains pretty and stylish which can be unusual in Scottish tradition inspired clothing.

The ending of the show was a big blob literally. I was quite confused why she choose this outfit as the final design as it had nothing to do with the rest of the collection yet when the lights come back on to indicate the ending of the show there was a massive cheer so maybe it’s just me?

I videoed some of the show for you. It's only the ending as it took me a while to notice that I didn't press record haha...well it is better than nothing.

Fashion As It Happens...

Fashion these days are not all about young girls and pretty clothes, it so much more! Sorry for the cringey line…anyway after searching style.com I was surprised to come across lots of designers who design and create clothes for all ages from a young girls pretty dress to my grandmas gardening outfits. I created this collage to illustrate the never end to fashion and how designers keep on designing and branching out to a wider audience as we venture through our lives.

Punk Pretty - Lanvin Spring 2012

Ever thought punk can be pretty? Well Lanvin collection juxtaposed punky with girly perfectly.  He created a messy unfinished look by pinning drapes to his dresses then adding slits to make the dresses appear as if the fabric has been torn and pinned to the models. This added a raw, punky and sexy feel to his outfits. However, his choice of pastel colouring and soft drapes brought a fairylike, girly quality to the collection, creating the perfect combination!
